My friend Alicia and I went on a fabric adventure last week. We mistakenly disregarded Mapquest's directions and got a bit creative. Miles and miles later we ended up at a ginormous fabric paradise. I wish I took more pictures, I was just so overwhelmed with all they had in there. I think at one point the building housed a large grocery store. Now it just holds thousands upon thousands bolts of fabric. Some unique, some surprisingly affordable, some... well... I have a thing with clowns. Super creepy, not fun, not cute, not entertaining. Ronald McDonald... creepy to the billionth power. So when I walked by this McD flannel I thought to myself "who would hate a child enough to make them a blanket out of this?" Here sweet kind innocent little baby, goodnight, sleep tight, don't let Ronald attack you in your sleep.
We went on our adventure because we are tired of the fabric shops near us. I buy 99% of my fabric online, but once in a while I want to see it in person. Alicia needed some more fabric for her newest venture in extravagant blanket making. Just a single look at her cozy, gorgeous blankets makes you instantly want a newborn baby to cuddle them in. The fabrics, the hand stitching on the edges, the fabulous ribbon tags. All too good to be true. I promise you, this is beyond a blanket that dreams are made of. (Not the Ronald McDonald kind either!)
You can find these yummies on a brand new site called Cupcream.com. It is named after what her sweet niece calls ice cream. Her sister in law also is one of my sewing heroes and makes the most delicious vintage inspired dresses for little girls. Pop in and take a peek. You will be glad you did. If you don't I just might send Ronald after you.
I absolutely DETEST clowns, too! Who thought up the idea of clowns anyway??? Creeeepyyyyy.... (shudder) Lori
ReplyDeleteI seriously peed a little when I read about Ronald McDonald. You are so right about it being creepy, although I am now a bit tempted to sew you up a little wonder just for laughs. Thanks for all the cupcream love! You are so kind.
ReplyDeleteSo stinkin' funny! Do you have the other half of my brain? Just wonderin':) That fabric is disgusting! Your friends website is adorable that little girl, oh I could just pinch those cheeks! Adorable. Thanks for sharing, and tell your friend good luck too!
ReplyDeleteI first saw that picture and thought...no way would Julie...my most creative friend...like that fabric! But as I read I was sayin' amen to the clowns and the Ronalds! Ha! You are getting funnier every day! And I also love your cheetah! Grrrrr....
ReplyDeletehahaha... Let me tell you ONE use for that very fabric {I bought it}! My husbands family owns 28 McDonald's... So as a gift for them, I am making a McDonald's quilt... They will LOVE it, I will post pics when it's done!... hahahaha but other than that... I am not exactly sure why one would want to purchase that fabric!

I, like Allikaye's mom thought you were going to shed some sort of creative light on that nasty fabric I saw at the top of the post! LOL. Good thing I kept reading. Scared me for a second! That fabric "warehouse" sounds like paradise! You've got Target's galore, fabric haven's...what else?? I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteOh, clowns are AWFUL, I fear them like I fear the dark(yes, I sleep with our tv on every night, FOX NEWS, BABY!!!). That fabric looks awesome!!! I took my first step towards sewing, I went to the library yesterday and checked out 2books on beginners and sewing. Now to drag out ye olde machine. I've got to go and check out cupcream now!
