Hmmmm, some of my favorite things about birthdays are gifts (giving and receiving!), sweet desserts, candles, family gatherings, our family birthday prayers thanking the Lord for the birthday person, and simply celebrating!

I'm a birthday fanatic! I LOVE birthdays, and honestly I'm not 100% sure why.
I love giving cards and gifts...I enjoy the bows, bags and wrapping. (not bad receiving them either). Decorating someone's room or place to surprise them. cupcakes of course, and cake.
I love that, that one day is special for that person, that its a day to celebrate their life.

A few of my favorite things about my birthday (Dec. 12) is that I always get flowers with Christmas greenery or Holly tucked in. My parents did this every year for me and when I got married they passed the torch on to my hubby. I also love to eat my breakfast or dinner on our "Special Red Plate", and for dessert I always request Dryer's Peppermint icecream - yum!

ReplyDeleteWow do we have similar tastes in our favorite things! :) My favorite part of birthdays is that you tend to hear from or see people that you don't get to see very often! Plus there is always good coffee and cake involved which doesn't hurt!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Birthdays are always so fun (even better is celebrating the kids birthdays). I love planning, preparing and taking care of all the little details to make it a super special day. We sometimes even do breakfast in bed for the birthday person -chocolate chip pancakes or blueberry muffins topped with a candle and taken to the birthday child's room. It's also great to just sit back and reflect on another amazing year gone bye. :)

ReplyDeleteI think I would have to say that my favorite thing about birthdays is the feeling you get when you wake up knowing it's your special day. Most of the time, as women, we are focused on our husbands, our children, and our extended families. It's nice to have everyone be thankful to the Lord that He blessed this earth with YOU. The older I get though, the more I dread seeing them come my way! Hope your day was wonderful!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about birthdays is planning parties for my kids! But don't enter me...I am not much of a coffee drinker {meaning I drink NO coffee!!} and I don't want to snatch up something I wouldn't use!!
birthdays are a big thing around here too! we enjoy celebrating and planning fun parties for our boys. kids parties are so much fun. my favorite besides surprising them with presents is to hear their choice of restaurant or what they want me to fix for dinner. it's ALL their choice and anything goes!

Birthdays are great because all that I need is a sweet card that a special someone took time to pick out and add their own feelings. It is nice to know that other people think of you because as a mother and just being a woman we often think of others more. Love every goodie in the giveaway, here you are thinking of others. My husband has a great aunt who turned 106 yesterday, no joke. And we celebrated her life and her memories and her knowledge. Come on, what do you buy someone who is 106?? I hope your day rocks!

My favorite thing about my birthday is that every year since the beginning of time (or maybe my life) my Mom has cooked a BIG meal (she does it for all of the siblings) I get to choose anything I want to eat. She may not know but I start planning the month before. The whole family comes grandparents and all. we all eat, visit and have fun. That is just my favorite. Now that I am older it is my favorite, I may not have noticed when I was younger, but every year I built some great memories with my family, those last way longer than the gifts I forgot about!Hope I win!Leslee

My favorite things about birthdays are letting people enjoy what is dear to them, whether it be a favorite restaurant, type of cake, etc. Tim's mom used to make him a cake shaped like a T - he still wants one every year! I also like raiding my closet stash where I have things I have picked out earlier in the year for them. I am always happy to find things I have stashed away. My favorite thing now about birthdays is my daughter helping me open presents and blow out my candles! She is just old enough now to enjoy this, and I can't wait for her 2nd birthday in April!

ReplyDeleteFor me, my favorite thing about birthday's NOW, is looking forward to my daughter's. I was planning her first birthday the minute I found out were were having a girl :) AND I even made her a 1/2 birthday cake when she turned 6 months old.

They may make a little fuss over me but the important thing is that they are together, they like and love each other and know what's important to them at these special times. ReplyDeleteI love birthdays. One of my favorite things that has been a tradition in my family is a birthday book. In the book, every year we put a picture of the special birthday person (everyone has their own book) on their birthday. It is oh so fun to look at EVERY year. My grandpa's book is extra special to me. I know the books of my kids will be extra special to someone too.

for myself? Sleeping in. That's the deal my husband and I have - I get to sleep in late on my birthday. But I also really like that I am still a daddy's girl and he still makes me whatever kind of cake i want :)

My Mom would call me on the telephone every year on my birthday morning and sing "Happy Birthday" to me and ask me "Do you know what we were doing xx years ago, today? Oh how I miss those calls now that she is in Heaven! But, by far, my most "favorite-est" birthday "thing" ever!

Whether it's a handmade doll or just a funky cake, I love it. Is there anything more fun than seeing the joy in someone's eyes when they open a gift you've made with your own hands?

Hubby's bday is Nov 27, Son #1's bday is Nov 28 & Son #2's bday is Dec 3. I figure if I am really good to them, they will be really good to me. I am really glad son #3's bday is in June:)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of my birthday is celebrating with family and friends. Plus, my entire family's birthday is within a month. My special day is July 28th. My husband's is 4 days later (Aug 1). My oldest daughter's is 14 days later (Aug 11). Finally, my youngest daughter is 26 days later (Aug 23). I love it even though it's a little hectic.
