I am not ashamed to admit that I big puffy heart comments.
Love them.
I especially love comments with questions.
I am here to help.
But lately "here" means sitting on the couch, feeding Janey
and catching up with emails on my phone.
Two things make it really hard to leave comments and respond to them.
So let me go on a friendly little rant...
Say bye bye to pesky word verification please.
Pretty, pretty, pretty please.
Five months later I have yet to get a single spam comment.
Five months later all of you sweet commenters have been free
from the task of deciphering weird nonsense words.
sidebar courtesy of the fabulous and way too nice
She shows you exactly what to do to add a pretty and useful
graphic that can help your readers get in touch with you.
Another helpful place is to put your email on your Blogger profile page.
Then lazies like me can respond directly from my email inbox.
(Go to Dashboard,
then Edit Profile,
then check the box that says "Show Email)
I have had mine up for over a year and have never been spammed.
Then if you leave a comment, ask a question or if I have a
bag of one hundred dollar bills to send you I know where to mail it.
Thirdly, thank you so much for leaving me comments.
They are even better than Diet Pepsi.
Around here a full inbox is a happy inbox.
Has anybody told you how cool you are today?!
ReplyDeletedone, done, and done.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I big puffy heart love comments too and I'm really digging your blog!
ReplyDeleteI am totally taking off the word varifaction now because of you! And I loved you DP story! Your blog is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAmen... Another thing that would be helpful... is if bloggers would go onto their blog spot profile and add their email... This way when they comment on posts, their actual email comes through instead of non reply blogger... I know I enjoy replying to comments vis email, and get frustrated when the non reply blogger is their... Very few people have this feature utilized...
ReplyDeleteI have that email button too...so cute!

I think I accomplished getting rid of the verification thing but I don't know how to change it so my email is linked to my comments that I leave...hmmm...or maybe it already is?
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I'm new to owning a blog and just trying to find my way around.
I ginormous puffy heart comments... they make my day :)
ReplyDeleteI turned it off, thanks for the tip. I was wondering how to do that, since sometimes I see it and sometimes I don't :)
I love Cathe's blog, she's already on my blog roll!
I just love your blog! Your posts always make me smile, and I justr love wearing my messy pin...I get so many compliments on it!!
ReplyDeleteAMEN SISTA! I will carry the anti-word verification until I die (or I stop blogging whichever comes first) ;-)
ReplyDeleteHere is a comment for you, friend!! I love comments too. Those times when I don't get very many at all - I feel like a bore to people! And my top number is around 20 - nothing like yours! You sure are loved...and pretty awesome! hehe! I'll check out those fun buttons!
ReplyDeleteSad, but I didn't even realize I had word verification on. Oh well. It's off now. Here's to no spam!!

Hahahaha aparently I got so excited I didn't finish reading before posting about the email thing... Thanks for sharing these tips Julie...
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more when it comes to those little words on the bottom of a post. To be honest sometimes I won't comment just because of them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your tip on the email button. I added one to my blog and I love it.
By the way I have follewed your blog for a while now but have been afraid to comment. Not to long ago I left what I thought to be a very nice comment and they sent me a not so nice email telling me that they were the reason I was going private. I felt so wird because I knew that I was not a wierdo. Any way and to top it off that person had a link to my cooking blog on her blog. SO to make a long story short I am a little afraid to comment for fear that tehy might think the same thing. I guess I just don't want my feelings hurt again.
But I love your blog and keep up the good work and I promise to comment more often...lol

ReplyDeleteGreat post and I thought I'd let you know, I'm still chuckling over your Diet Pepsi tale. I'm a Diet Coke girl myself (must be from the fountain - no cans or bottles for me) and I've had that happen.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on all of that stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh and please.... please... tell everyone to turn off the music. I do not like that. :)
YES, comments rock!
ReplyDeleteYES, those captcha things are annoying. I've had mine turned off for several years and almost never get spam.
