Does your kid eat sand?
Because as babies all of mine seemed to think it was the most delicious treat in the world.
weird.
I used to freak out.
Now, I take pictures.
Sorry Janey.
Yogurt.
Chock full of fiber.
(Pretty sure that sand counts as fiber... but do you want to eat it?)
Fiber One gave me the opportunity to try their new yogurt.
50 calories and 5 grams of fiber!
Four yummy flavors.
Hungry Girl approved.
Take that sand.
They partnered up with the Safeway family of stores (including Dominick’s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, Genuardi’s) and asked me to give away a
$50 Safeway gift card.
Yay!
But, if you know me, there sometimes is a catch.
I don't want the winner to keep it.
I want them to give it away.
Because I know that all of us know of at least one family that doesn't have money to buy dinner tonight.
A family that is praying for something like this.
An unexpected gift.
A very welcome surprise.
I love generous people.
You could be one of those people.
I want you to meet another such person.
Jen from Leah La Rae Baby emailed me offering to giveaway ANY!!! item from her shop.
She is amazing.
Her generosity abounds.
She was instrumental in both Cora's Playground and Project 320.
When I told her about the Safeway promotion she was excited to be able to help.
A treat for a family in need, a treat for you or for your little one.
Does it get much better?
Right now she has these crazy adorable crochet beanies.
I know of a bald, sand eating baby, who would be pretty stinking cute in one.
So on Monday I will pick a winner.
Be thinking of who you could bless with the gift card.
Be thinking of how great it would be to meet 20% of your daily requirement of fiber with some yummy yogurt.
Be thinking of why babies eat sand.
How can you win?
(remember to leave a separate comment for each entry.)

Had to laugh about the sand. With my first I was an overprotective, I knew everything that went in his mouth, kind of mom. My second, Claire who is now 5 tried it all and I was like whatever. Its amazing how you get soft as the years and children come!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monster T-shirts!!! I was so excited to see them on Jen's give away that i commented if i didn't win one i might have to make one of my own because it is just SO cute! and the next link is to a STORE with Monster shirts for JUST $18!!! Make one-smake one. I'm buyin' my own. if i win it too i'll have to give one away! ;) Great idea by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I LOVE the happy monster t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm pretty sure my youngest would eat sand if we lived near any. :D
Right now I am most thankful for the love and generosity being shown to me by people in our community. We are struggling financially and I am constantly amazed by the support of our church and the anonymous givers who have left things on our doorstep!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are having the winner give the gift card away!! I'd give it to the refugee family our church sponsors. Anyhow, right now I'm thankful for for finding new friends in unexpected places. They make life so lovely!! Have a good weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sand eating- I can't wait for it to be warm enough for my little one to eat sand :)
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for a healthy little girl. Our friends lost their 15 month old daughter on Tuesday and my heart is completely broken. Kate has received lots of extra hugs and kisses this week.
I love Jen's blog. I left her a comment.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item in her shop is the happy flower shirt. I love all the bright colors.

ReplyDeletejakemelissajakea@aol.com
i am most thankful for my husband....i thank God for him everyday. now that he's away from me for a while i'm sad, yet happy that he's protecting me and you!
ReplyDeleteI left some love on Jen's blog :o)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing in her store is either a crochet beanie or the happy monster shirts...precious! I'm glad I"m not the only one who takes pictures of her kids eating sand (or pitching fits in aquarium giftshops...) :o)
ReplyDeleteI am most thankful for my family and all of the blessings God has given us.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I am most thankful for right now is the ability to stay at home with my children during this important time in their lives. I never thought I would get to, (and we never thought we could make it) but we've made it work. I thank God everyday for this blessing!
ReplyDeleteI love the tu-tu onsie with ballet shoes!
ReplyDeleteMy son put is face straight down in the sand the first time we went to the beach. My husband freaked out because he thought it would get in his eyes and poured the ice and water from the cooler on his head. It was a disaster! ;)
I am thankful right now that I was able to be pregnant.
ReplyDeleteThe Cutie Crochet Hats (especially the first pink one) would look adorable on our sweet little bald baby girl :). Also, the flower daisy clips are so cute! Thanks for the fun giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love all the crochet beanies. We have a almost bald 21 month old granddaughter that would look adorable in one!
ReplyDeletebooharts@comcast.net
So glad I found your site! What fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item in Jen's store was the Fancy Flower hat, but the Happy Monster tee would have to be my second fav. Very fitting for my son.
Left some love on Jen's blog too!
ReplyDeleteI love the happy flower shirt-so so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that my son is about to reach an amazing milestone of being out of the hospital for six whole months (on the 19th)! At 2.5yrs, it will be a new record for him! Unfortunately, I know so many families that can't say the same, and I would love to be able to pass on a surprise gift card. I know from experience that God reaches out to us through little surprises like that!
ReplyDeleteI have so many friends that are unemployed right now and their families could really use this gift card.
ReplyDeleteI am so so so grateful that Zak has a job right now.
I am thankful that the gray skies disappeared for a whole day this week and the sun came out. God's little reminder that Spring is on it's way!
ReplyDeleteI left her a comment on her blog!
ReplyDeleteI REALLY love her customized onsies. They're too hard to choose from! I also love her Hats! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteI Am so very thankful for my happy healthy daughter. She is my life!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I love it! I'm not a big blog follower but your stuff is just my style! :)
What a great idea. I know a mom from MOPS who could definitely use a g-cert like this. Thanks for sharing your generous heart!
ReplyDeletePS - Am thankful for... cuddly kids.
Awesome etsy find! I love the 3.5in flower clip. Wonder if I could "rock" that look?
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud sitting here all along.. That was so funny. I may have to go try me some dirt on my next bad day.. There has got to be some JOY in it I am missing. haha
ReplyDeleteStaci
I am most thankful for the laughter that we share in our family on a daily basis! I love love to laugh! I love that we can find humor in the small things in life! ;) I love that you want us to find someone else to bless with the gift card!
ReplyDeleteJust Jenn~
My second little girl, Olivia eats sand like it is her mission in life, she eats crayons from top to bottom including the paper in a half second flat, she carries around/eats clods of dirt like ice cream cones, and she eats/licks playdough like a sucker... You get the picture :) I am most thankful for God's care and attention to the details in my life... And that Olivia isn't sick from all the stuff she "eats" daily :)
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for my family and the true Joy that this Easter season signifies!
ReplyDeleteI love the Monster tees! My boys would love those!
ReplyDeleteThis morning I am so thankful for modern technology. My Papaw was taken to the hospital by ambulance yesterday after having a seizure at home. Even though we're 2000 miles away we were able to get instant updates by texting my aunt all day! I'm so thankful for that!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to put what i'm thankful for right now. Right now, the thing I am SO thankful for and think of most often is that my son is healthy. Mentally and physically.
ReplyDeleteI am so moved by and torn for families struggling with their childrens' health and/or learning. I don't understand why (or what, be it vaccines, additives in foods, gluten, diary, whatever) people are led to believe that it's okay to do things that are ultimately hurting our kids.
Not be a downer, but I'm just grateful and aware every day that we were blessed to be a pair of those "crazy first time parents" who unknowingly spared our little guy.
Oh the tutu onesie is adorable!! And the poppy one. And the crochet hats. But the tutu is definitely my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteRight now I am thankful for my baby girl that I will get to meet this month! The road to becoming parents has been long and hard for us, so I am especially anxious and excited for her to get here.:)
I think the gift card giveaway is awesome. While $50 on groceries may seem small to a lot of us, there are so many people that could benefit from it, and I personally can think of one person. I know an amazing mother of 4 children under the age of 6 (!!) that is doing it all on her own after leaving her abusive husband so I know a grocery store gift card would be a huge blessing to her. I think we all know people that could be blessed by this though.
Leah LaRae Toddler Dress - with the blue butterflies. And I think I am most thankful for my two five-year old girls.
ReplyDeleteJust visited Jen's blog and love - so I told her so!
ReplyDeleteI am a photographer and I would love to have the Custom FAncy Flower Hat!! It is adorable!
ReplyDeleteRight now I am super-duper thankful for my family. I love having 4 kids...making my family bigger and my house noiser!! I wouldn't have it any other way. I am soooooo thankful that my boy have each other!!!
ReplyDeleteI am most thankful for my husband and 4 kids :) BTW my youngest who is now 2 ate sand ALL the time EVERY time we went to the beach.....at first I tried to stop her but after several visits I too just took pictures! She would even take her binkie rub it in the sand and the sand off :)
ReplyDeleteThe Fancy Flower hats are way too cute but I also love the layered flower t shirts!!!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I left a comment on Jen's blog!
ReplyDeleteI love the Happy Flower T-shirt - I wish she made it in adult sizes! I also love the Cutie Crochet hat with the brown flowers.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for the incredible family and life that God has blessed me with.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item is the flower hat in white toddler.
ReplyDeletehmowery@centurytel.net
the flowered shirts are adorable but i have a seven month old neice that would be absolutely fantastic in one of those beanies.
ReplyDeleteI love her Pretty Skirty's they are super cute. and I do love the crochet hat with her cute broach on there...so fun.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for my husband. He is amazing and I just can't believe I got HIM. I am grateful for his hard work and for his dedication to me and us starting a little family of our own. God truly blessed me beyond measure with this guy.
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE the monster t shirt. Hilarious and fun. My kids would LOVE passing that down to each other.
ReplyDeleteI'd eat sand to get to be on a beach. LOL!

Left some bloggy love:)
ReplyDeleteI <3 the happy flowers shirt and the flower beanies!!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that even though my husband has been out of work since August, that I have a stable job to help support my family. The last 7 months have made it clear how blessed we really are, and we have found ourselves giving even more to help those less fortunate than we are. Thank you for the opportunity to help again!
ReplyDeleteI think that the little onesy with ballet slippers and the tutu bottom is the cutest thing I've ever seen. The hats are cute too.
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was 9 months old we took her on her first camp out. I cleaned all the cow pies away from where we were camping for five days and was successful in avoiding the cow pie dessert. On the last night we were there my sister in law sat her on the ground and the first thing she did was picking up the only cow pie around and ate it. By the time I found her she had cow pie drool all over her chin - and yes I took a picture after I was done dry heaving.
ReplyDeletePS I am thankful for cow pie moments.
ReplyDeleteVisted Jen's blog, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteLoved the elmo bow, and hats, to many cute things to choose just one!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for my wonderful hubby, and my two little joys, Gracie and Emma:)
ReplyDeleteLeft Jen a blog comment!

ReplyDeleteI visited Jen's blog. She has a curious interpretation of flowers.
ReplyDeleterunningmatey at hotmail dot com
My favorite item on Laeh Larae's site is the little owlie onesie.
ReplyDeleterunningmatey at hotmail dot com
I am most thankful for my family and the unconditional love of my sweetheart. One the kindest things he ever did for me was make me an easter basket. I explained to him that I never got an easter basket as a child, and yes, while it was not abuse or the worst thing in the world, I felt left out. So the first year we were together he made me an easter basket with my favorite candy. What a doll;)
ReplyDeleterunningmatey at hotmail dot com
I left some comment love on Jen's bloggy!
ReplyDeleteMy fav items from Leah La Rae Baby are the Happy Flower shirts!

ReplyDeletemy little iris would look super cute in the pretty crocheted hat. sooo sweet!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love the chocolate brown Fancy Fabric Flower hat!! The fabrics just pop against that dark beanie - LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteI am most thankful for a happy, healthy family right about now.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that we have such a strong network of supporters while dealing with our twins and that we have a "working unit" of a family!
ReplyDeleteI think that babies eat sand because the texture is so interesting! Perhaps we would try it,if the taste wasn't so off. The of the wonderful feeling of the sand between your toes ~ what better place to explore it ~ you mouth.
ReplyDeleteMy 11 month twins love to eat grass!
It is a toss up - as I have boy / girl twins - I love the Cutie Crochet Hat and the Monster Shirt!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know 2 families that could use the gift card! I would give 1 away and then purchase 1 and give it to the other family!
I can so see my little one eating sand this summer.
ReplyDeleteLove the hat!
I would love to win the Safeway gift card for my grandmother who is going blind, needs help but is to stubborn to accept help from anyone.
I just love this! I think I missed it, but I am still happy to see that someone will get to do this. Pick someone to give this giftcard to. Way to help people serve others. I just love it. Makes me happy. And actually I love seeing Janey eating the sand. That picture is fabulous. I have a feeling that most 1 year olds love sand. There is just something intriguing about the touch of it that they have to taste it too. I need to get to the beach again.
ReplyDeletei love her little elephant onesie! so cute. actually her entire shop is filled with cuteness! great idea with the giftcard. i have several ideas if i win that...thanks for the chance! jeanette at sosplendid.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that my kiddos are healthy! jeanette at sosplendid.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteNo sand eating has happened yet :), but my little one is constantly picking fuzz out of rugs, carpet, whatever and eating it. And then a little bit later she will hack it up like a cat - its totally gross. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your encouragement on my quilt making - I have kept going.
