Remember this?
For the last seven months we have been living with the few survivors who were lucky enough to have been nestled safety in the dishwasher during the Cabinet Catastrophe 2010.We have waited/ fought/ waited/ fought for the cabinet store to reimburse us for the dishes. Our wedding dishes. They came out, inspected the damage and the cabinet, assumed responsibility and admitted that it was a manufacturer error. What they didn't do, was keep their word. Sad. Very sad.
But today, my wonderful and spoiling parents came over with a whole new batch of Fiestaware goodness for us. Colors that weren't even available when we got married. My dream colors. Can you even handle the colors?
I can barely wait to unpack each box and stack them into rainbow happiness.
But honestly, I am really, really scared.
Our contractor triple secured the cabinet to the wall, so I should feel safe. But it is still a little freaky.
But I am going to be brave. It is going to be beautiful. We have real dishes!!!
All the colors are so inspiring! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou should contact Good Housekeeping. In their magazines they always have an article about someone that had a problem with something and didn't get their money back or items back. They might be able to help. The dishes are beautiful! What great parents!
ReplyDeleteBummer about the cabinet maker, but you are awesome to look on the bright side. What fun dishes & what thoughtful parents!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! We chose Fiestaware for our registry too! :) 13yrs later I love them as much as the day we registered! My only regret is not mixing a bunch of colors! Guess its not too late, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteI heart your parents, what a sweet gift!
ReplyDeleteWow - what wonderful parents. that must have been terrible to see all of your dishes broken like that. Terrible!

ReplyDeleteYou have such a great outlook on life. i just read your post about the cabinet crashing down. I loved how you immediately thought to put things into perspective. earthly things . . . How wonderful that you have such great parents to give you such a gift. Did you ever make a mosaic out of the broken ones?

How fun ... we also got FiestaWare for our wedding - 12 years ago! We wanted 6 different colors and wanted to make sure that got some of all the colors - and we ended up with 21 place settings! I absolutely love Fiesta and enjoy the vintage and new. I love that is fun and functional!

ReplyDeleteLuscious colors!!!! How exciting for you guys.
ReplyDeleteI love Fiestaware, and now I love your parents.
ReplyDeleteThose dishes are super fun. One of my best friends also had her cabinet fall off the wall and lost all her dishes as well, including the set of dishes I bought her for her wedding gift. She was devastated. They weren't home when it happened, but rather, came home to a disaster in the kitchen.
ReplyDeletei may have a little fiestaware jealousy...and some extra room in my suitcase :)
ReplyDeleteno cabinet catastrophe jealousy though...i still think about yours every time i put my dishes away!
Now that is some happiness. Big smiles to you today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeletei'm so happy for you friend! the colors are delightful and so very cheery! hooray for kindness triumphing over people watching out for themselves. you know how i feel about that...what goes around comes around isn't just a wives tale, you know!!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing where you got your cute little eating off the floor picture? I love it! Good luck with your new cupboard.
ReplyDeleteour wedding dishes were Fiesta as well. and from the looks of the boxes, you have the exact colors we have, with the exception of white...and we have "shamrock" instead of white. Enjoy! I can't imagine what losing all of my dishes would feel like, I love them so (and I know that sounds really weird!) :)
ReplyDeletepatti - urban bundle
I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteA) I heart your parents
ReplyDeleteB) I hate your cabinet people
C) Love the colors. Pure yum.
yay!
ReplyDeleteim so happy for you.
Ohhhh! SO happy for you! Sometimes...when your dishes are all over the floor broken like that, it's hard to think that anything good will come out of it! This just shows you that God is full of suprises! Even in FiestaWare!
ReplyDeleteOh lord...I don't remember that, but wow! Looks like you got a bunch of new pretty dishes to fill the cabinet. This is a very good reminder to me...because one of my cabinets does not seem to be hung correctly and is coming off the wall. I should really take care of that!
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! So glad you've got dishes again, and awesome, colorful ones at that. Go Mom and Dad!
ReplyDeleteooohh the turquoise and the tangerine are making my heart go putter patter. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for dishes and beautiful colors! And Yay for parents! They are the best!
ReplyDeleteLOVE. i share your joy.
ReplyDeletei remember your cabinet catastrophe. i even emailed the link to my mom.
my mom and her mom both sell fiestaware... go to the factory, get in line at 3am, wear the shirts, feed their dogs from it...
i used to think it was somewhat cult-ish (and still do, i've just let myself join) until i found myself a poor, starving college student eating off of 2nd and 3rd quality fiestaware. (thinking back, maybe i could have sold my dishes for food...)
when i got married, i thought i might be excommunicated when i mentioned that i didnt want ALL the colors, at least not yet. ha.
now im living in africa. my beautiful (5 colors) of dishes, packed away, waiting for our return.
ps- did you save the broken dishes? oh, the possibilities!
Wooo Hooo! Beauties!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new dishes. Love the sign about eating on the floor, very appropriate. And remember lightning doesn't strike the same place twice!
ReplyDeletethey look so fun!! good luck :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how wonderful! I can't wait to see pictures of all the plates lined up :)
ReplyDeleteI have been a longtime lurker here (sorry for being wierd), so this is my first post - but I remember when that happened last year. I LOVE fiesta and actually work down the street from where its made :)
ReplyDelete*I second Kim's suggestion: shoot Good Housekeeping an email!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely, lovely, lovely new dishes...jealous.
