Whenever I am sad, upset, or feel just plain awful I find myself quietly standing in front of my big aqua pot, quietly stirring a warm and cozy batch of Cheesy Potato Soup.
It is like a big hug that for a moment makes everything better, be it ouchy teeth, or hurting friends.
What is your go to comfort food?
Who needs a bowl of soup in your life?
(p.s. notice anything different around here?)
I have a baked potato soup recipe that is my go to comfort food. I always make a huge batch so I have lots of leftovers :)

Want to send a bowl over here? It might make my day a little better. Sick kids and tired sick Mom. I can do this...I can do this.... The real truth is though there are quite a few other friends that could use it more then me. That salad looks pretty scrumptious too. I {heart} soup. And in an aqua pot. That sounds happy too. You are so good.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on hot, cheesy, potato soup. Nothing can beat it. This is my all time favorite recipe...baked potato soup. It's the best!!
ReplyDeletehttp://lubirdbaby.blogspot.com/2009/09/best-baked-potato-soup-ever.html
that sounds and looks delicious. my go-to soup is cheesy broccoli or chicken noodle.but pizza is my all time comfort food. i could eat it every meal, every day.
ReplyDeleteTonight that looks perfect...
ReplyDeleteCan you send me the whole pot? My whole family could use the "comfort" as we embark on a long journey with my dad and his sickness. Oh to be little again and have no cares in the world and have someone else take care of you. But I am used to it since I am the oldest of 5 kids and I am always the peacemaker, the butt wiper, the rock, the one you call at 1 AM because you and dad had a huge fight, the one that has to deal with everyone's issues. I could use some serious prayer :) The recipe sounds yummy friend!

I love potato soup! I make baked potato soup all the time in the fall/winter. Let's see...My comfort food is any type of soup/casserole/crock pot meal. And, a glass of wine. Does wine count? ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd, I think the *new* thing is the wording in your header...you changed it! Or, maybe i am just noticing that you changed it!
I like your new tagline . . . do something good everyday. a great idea for everyone!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks so good. I love soup, too. I have a taco soup recipe that I got from my mom-in-law. It's yummy & very comforting. We invite our friends over & have it on Halloween night every year.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks so great! And cooked in an aqua pot is even better! (#1)
ReplyDeleteoh laugh......I am having my second 'crappysville' (yes, yes I know made up word but I am so ALLOWED to as I write!!!) week here - made a HUGE POT of potato soup Tuesday night & it not the same without a MASSIVE handful of cheese in as you serve it!!! Going to give your recipe a go though!!
ReplyDeletesoup is my thing - broccoli doup & my moroccan lentil & chickpea soup also fit the bill.
Love the new tag line......PERFECT for me just now!!! ps - are you seeing my life from your corner of the world???? Just seems yo usre always spot on!!
beeeeeee good.
ReplyDeletephone home.
love that you love that soup.
i checked out your guest post about the tray making and you had me roaring with laughter. i love the home owner policy bit and the patio bit. i needed a good chuckle tonight:) that is even better than potato soup if you ask me:)
ReplyDelete:)gina
Soup is most definitely my comfort food. I am so going to try that recipe...soon! I made a big pot of my fave potato corn chowder yesterday for a friend who just had a new baby, but I gobbled up a bowl of it myself before delivering it. (Don't tell!) This week I've been in need of comfort myself...traveling husband, kids exploding from both ends, sick-ish myself, broken hot water heater...I won't bore you with more. The soup certainly helped, but the big bowl of cookies and cream ice cream I'm gonna inhale in about 5 minutes will be even more magical.
ReplyDeletepizza. there are soo many variations...you can put just about anything you like on it, so no matter what you're in the mood for it is good. ;) I even made a fruit dessert pizza this week. Mmmm. Yep, pizza is the best!
ReplyDeleteThis is the exact meal I made for my family tonight!!! Great minds.....
ReplyDeleteMmm, probably my Gramms homemade mac&cheese. It's definitely a go to for me. And a very dear friend is going through a tough time and she could totally use a big ol' bowl! And I think I would have to have one with her. :)
ReplyDeleteYumm...Definitely need some of that goodness and comfort right about now. Do you ship?!
ReplyDelete:) Nicole
i made a triple batch of cheesy potato soup yesterday. one for us and two for friends. i hope it comforted them and you as much as it did me.
ReplyDeleteDO something good. everyday.
ReplyDeletei LIKE.
mmmmm wish i had some right now.
ReplyDeleteif you really neeeeeed some and you just can't make your own, i love the loaded baked potatoe from corner bakery....wonder if it is anything like meg's....
Yum!Seriously crushing over your din, since mine was leftover noodles...blech. Mom diet, much? Mel got it for sure, I'm lame I thought it was Bee Market....which makes me sniffle. I wanna come for SNUGGLEFEST2010! Miss bantering by email, need a session STAT!
ReplyDeletePS Sry for the bad day friend. :(
My girls loooooove cheesy potato soup. My oldest also loves broccoli and cheese soup...so I created Green Monster Soup. It's basically cheesy potato soup with a bag of steamfresh broccoli florets thrown in. They LOVE it. I actually bought all the ingredients for it last night with plans for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteCheer up soon! :)
LOVE the new tagline! Great job! :) Also love comfort food. Need to try that soup recipe...
ReplyDeleteyour header tagline changed no?
ReplyDeleteMy comfort food is cabbage. Plain cabbage.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding on that last comment. But I will tell you what my comfort food is not. Raspberry jalepeno anything. But we can still be friends because . . . well because we just can. And I can't wait to see you in a few weeks. You will be my familiar face in the crowd. I might just heckle you.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm that sounds so delightful right now!!
ReplyDeleteYum! I was in need of comfort food too, and tonight that came in the form of a larger than normal bowl of ice cream.
ReplyDeleteThat potato soup looks delicious and comforting. However, being Asian, I'd have to say that my favorite go-to-comfort soup is a bowl of miso soup with rice. It always make me feel better when I'm sick.
ReplyDeletethat looks so good!
ReplyDeletei was about to comment and ask how long you've had a new header, but after your little question at the end, i'm assuming not long! i love it. :)
comfort food- mmm. i have lots. being a texan, it's often mexican food, especially when there are margaritas.
that soup looks delish! one of my favorite comfort foods is chili topped with sour cream and cheddar cheese!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Did you have to post a picture??! I'm starving!
ReplyDeletePS. Love the new banner wording!
Happy Day :)
Ooh, potato soup is up there, but my comfort will always be pizza...always. I hope your soup gives you the comfort you need today.
ReplyDeletedo something good. everyday.
ReplyDeletelove it julie.
I probably should win something for noticing that.
I know, how about a lifetime supply of 2575 lady's cute stuff.
hook a girl up.
(PS I always want to call you Jules. My friend that I met in 3rd grade is also Julie and I call her Jules! I bet you don't have any Marta friends from your past. I win again. Now you definitely need to hook me up with some stellar 2575 fabulousness.)
(PPS Do you hate Jules? Does anyone else call you that or am I the only weirdo that likes nicknames around blogland?)

ReplyDelete"do something good" is a new addition :) and i like it!
ReplyDeletemy go-to comfort food is chili spaghetti (you can thank the DeZarns for that!). it's so easy to make & thoroughly delicious. i top that off with a fancy dessert consisting of ben & jerry's half baked ice cream. baller.
Can I just come eat at your house? I love your pretty dirty dishes (a couple of posts back) and I can't wait to make the Betty recipes you posted on Andrea's blog. I never knew I could make potato soup from frozen hashbrowns. I never even considered making potato soup at home since the idea of peelin' taters just sounds SO not fun to me. You've changed my attitude! Thanks for the recipes and keep them coming!
ReplyDeletei love your new tag line! i loved the old one and i love this one just as much. and i could use a pot of soup. i think i'll make some for dinner tonight. i hugely afraid of cooking, but i know if i can make a pot of yummy soup for my family i will be doing good for them. so i'm gonna do it. thanks for always inspiring me to do more. i love that about you friend!
ReplyDeleteAwesome new tag line! And I love cheesy potato soup. Yum!! My comfort food is cheesy potato casserole though. Something about it reminds me of Christmas and family....and warmth....and not caring about calories :D
ReplyDeleteIs it rainy where you guys are too? I love it!! Perfect day for soup (and that AWESOME salad!!)
do something good everyday...YES! You have an influence and you're using it...go girl :)
