Shhh... don't tell anyone.  But I'm not.  I've tried and tried.  But alas, a golden, flaky, buttery, perfectly baked pie crust holds no power over me.  I appreciate the work, the care and the artistry that goes into the making of one.  But that is as far as it goes for this girl.

Cobbler, however is an entirely irresistible, unconventional, sugary, crumbly, ice cream topped temptation that I am powerless against.

So if by chance you aren't a pie girl either, make what I look forward to most at the end of our Thanksgiving day meal.

{Basically you are making the pumpkin pie without the crust,
baking it halfway so it sets a bit,
adding the cake mix cobbler topping,
then baking it again to brown the cobbler part and finish cooking the pie part.}
Cobbleriffic.

  4. For weight purposes, I wish I was not a pie kinda girl. However, a world without pie sounds like a sad, lonely place. ;)

    The cobbler sounds yummy though.

  5. This sounds so yummy....and easy. Thanks for sharing. Here's a GREAT TIP for you. Try subbing the condensed milk in the pie filling recipe with COCONUT MILK. A friend brought a pumpkin pie to a recent MOPS meeting and it was mind-blowing fantastic, but only subtly different. I thought it was almond extract, but turned out to be the coconut milk. So good. Try it. :) happy thanksgiving. ---- Teresa

  9. I'm right with ya on the pie thing. I usually eat whatever the filling is and then leave the pie crust alone. Cobbler...now that's another story entirely! Thanks for the recipe!

  12. Hi. I've just been recommended to read your blog by a friend and have been reading your story about Joy. I cried, and can relate in just a small way to your story. Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope you don't mind, I've decided to become a 'follower'. By the way, the cobbler looks divine! xx

  13. not a pie girl. except for my peanut butter chocolate pie. but i'm not sure that counts. it's really more of a giant reeses peanut butter cup disguised as a pie. it's sneaky like that.

  18. nope. I too am not a pie person.
    well, let me re-phrase that. I am not a "hot-fruit-person."

    cream pies? fine.
    graham cracker crust? tasty.
    regular, flaky pie crust? no go.

    Today, Thanksgiving, I am making apple pie and chocolate peanut butter pie. I will be eating the latter, thank you very much. ;)
