I tried to avoid it.
I knew I would get addicted.
I knew that my minutes are sparse and precious.
So I held off.
I stood firm.
I resisted many an attempt to get me to try it.
But then Drew invited me.
She convinced me.
I accepted.
I fell in crazyaddictedcan'tbelievehowmuchitcompletesme love.
Oh Pinterest.
I love/hate you.
I love how pretty you are.
How many ideas you give me.
How you organize my unorganized mind.
(Totally found this font and learned how to make this printable
on Pinterest. So I suppose I did do a bit of doing. Word.)
But I find that when I could actually be making/ cooking/ baking/ creating all that you show me, I instead sit and find more things to make/ cook/ bake/ create. A few minutes with you and all is right with the world. Except I have nothing tangible to show for it.
Hmmmmm....
Chatting with no blog Alicia, she told me about a group of girls she knew who had a Pinterest Party.
They each brought supplies for everyone to make a project they had pinned, and while they worked ate yummy food that they had too found on Pinterest.
I think I needs me a Pinterest Party.
Or an intervention.
What are your favorite pins lately?
How can you pin less and do more?
Off to comb through my boards to find what would be at the top of my list....
I want to follow you... So I can pin more things to do/ not do.
Leave your Pinterest link in el comments por favor.
i hear you! i'm hooked. have felt so convicted in last few weeks to actually do something - and stop pinning so much. i did one project earlier this week and it made me feel better but i still have so much i'd love to do!
ReplyDeleteam i invited to the party? you plan, i come.
ReplyDeleteOooooh I LOVE pinterest! At first I totally didn't "get it" but now I have to cut myself off after hours of scavenging for cute ideas! I want to do a pinterest party where guests gather and bring stuff to create Christmas gifts. :)
ReplyDeleteHere are my boards:
http://pinterest.com/sadiemademedoit/
Don't get me started! I'm on pinterest like it's my day, afternoon, & night job! Pins I've hearted lately are...A recipe for reese's cup crescent rolls, Essie Matte Finger nail polish, & An awesome Halloween eye chart that I had printed out as a 16x20!!!! Oh and I found you a few days ago & stalk your pins as well!
ReplyDeleteOMG. i am ADDICTED to Pinterest!! it's crazy how you can just get lost for hours on there.
ReplyDeleteHere are my boards:
http://pinterest.com/hazelwea/
Happy pinning to you, too!!
Ha! I actually started deleting things I knew I would NEVER make! Trying to keep it to the minimum (if thats even possible).
ReplyDeletep.s. I want to come to the Pinterest party!
So much to pin, so little time! Lately my favorite pins are for fun things to do with my 2.5 year old... things that are fun for her and easy on her 8 months pregnant mommy! I definitely fall into the Pinterest time trap once she's in bed, though... there's just too many good ideas floating around out there... I need to catch them all! Not to enable you or anything, but here's a link to my boards: http://pinterest.com/allisongraceann/
ReplyDeleteSo fun, I LOVE Pinterest too! It's just so, pinteresting...
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/katpinkandgreen/
Hey there! I have followed you for a while. Love your blog, love your craftiness and loved viewing your Pinterest favs!! I have a huge favor to ask. I have requested and requested to join Pinterest and I'm not sure if they are just overwhelmed with request but I have yet to receive an invite. I want to start pinning so badly and find it very odd that I haven't recieved an email from them yet. Could you please, please invite me to join? I would forever be grateful. I'm a Mommy of two, my oldest being 3 years old and I am dying to learn new ideas and recipes for her and of course for me as well!! Hop over and view my blog. I still have to update my blog to show our newest addition, Harper (5 mths). Forgive me, I just haven't had the money to pay someone to update my blog!! In due time, right!! Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI may be the only person who HATES Pinterest. I feel like it's a huge waste of time. If I want to do a craft, I'll Google it. If I want to try a new recipe, I'll Google it. To me, Pinterest has great ideas but you spend 99% more time LOOKING at random pictures than you do MAKING anything similar.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Pinterest!! It is what I use for down time after my kids are in bed and while my husband is watching football!
ReplyDeleteJust blogged about this myself. I've added so many projects to my list that my head is spinning. I love it yet it overwhelms me at the same time! :) love your blog!

I can't get enough of that site! A pinterest party is such a cute idea! I agree though that I keep adding more to my list of things to make rather than actually making anything. But it is oh so fun and a great way to zone out, after the kids are asleep of course and not during homework time:-)
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! So true! I have such a problem with the "doing" part but I love the pinterest party idea :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
You know you love it! And your'e welcome for the invite :)
ReplyDeletefrom one addict to another... it gets better. totally being honest. i find it comes in waves too... pinning a lot and then doing a lot, or at least avoiding it :)
ReplyDeleteI resisted as well but am now completely hooked - anytime I see something Star Wars or Chewbacca related, or font related (i.e. Comic Sans...ha, ha) I think of some of your past posts... :)
ReplyDeleteIf I didnt limit myself to 30 min, I'd spend HOURS on Pinterest. I actaully dont pin that much. I also wish you could have "hidden" boards...like I wanted the party ideas for my sons party to be a "secret" until the guest showed up! Is that weird?
ReplyDeleteMy boards: http://pinterest.com/ahb916/
Some of my new favorites:

Oh I so agree! It is so inspiring, but yet I don't have anything to show for it yet either. Having a pinterest creation party just might be the answer to getting the do part going.
ReplyDeleteI have done the best with new recipes. Only a few flops. Most of them have been great!
ReplyDeletei heart pinterest. and i follow you, so i know how much you love it. and i love that you know shauna personally. you girls are so cool.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so addicted! Following you will be so fun!
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/minimillers/
HA! Kevin found some shorts he loved online tonight, and I said "Why don't you pin them? I think you need your own Pinterest." To which he replied... "Uh, how bout I just BUY them?"
ReplyDeletePinterest Party- YES. Let's pick a date. My kid WILL be weaned.
http://pinterest.com/erickashootspix/pins/
ReplyDeletepinterest has made me ignore all my chores, work, and obligations....but I have so many pretty things to look at now. :)
I resisted for a long time too....then caved....addictaddictaddict....

ReplyDeleteI'm @ http://pinterest.com/lorimanilow/pins/
I've enjoyed your blog for a long time in silence. (sorry!) This post just struck a chord and I had to agree! I want to join your Pinterest Party...or maybe I'll host my own!! I've gotten SO many ideas for my kids on there, and have done so few! guilty. :( Here's my link: http://pinterest.com/mollyjoy/
ReplyDeletePinterest is awesome except it makes me depressed seeing how other people are so creative and I am sitting by the computer! :-D I am already following your pins (Ola Velner).

I love/hate pintrist too. I find inspriational quotes about running to get my butt back in gear...then the next pin I find is how to make the worlds most amazing brownies - a tad bit counter productive.
ReplyDeletehere you go :) from one addict to another.
http://pinterest.com/carriedphotog/
i just blogged on this very thing.. :) less pinning more doing.. http://pinterest.com/kristylynn/
ReplyDeleteohhh, that sounds fun. i look at pinterest on my phone in the middle of the night when i'm nursing. so there, it's justified. can't do anything else anyway. ;) i just made a fall wreath i found on pinterest... http://queen-of-the-house.blogspot.com/2011/09/wreath-for-fall.html and here are my boards: http://pinterest.com/goodtobequeen/ i shamelessly love love love pinterest. i'm excited to see what you pin. :)
ReplyDeleteI held out on Pinterest for a long time...but I'm glad to have it! Now I don't have to endlessly hunt through my Reader looking for that DIY I starred...I can find it on my pinboard! And I made a recipe I found on Pinterest earlier this week - it was yummy! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/sweetestpetunia
As if i didn't feel like i stalked you enough. now there is another layer to my creepiness. ;-) oh pinterest!

ReplyDeletefollow me! terrid614

I LOVE Pinterest, but find myself in the same obsessed/addicted boat as you. I have made several crafts/recipes/things found on Pinterest, and I've gotten some great tips for fashion and hair, so I feel it's okay to be this addicted (for me at least).
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/susanhopper/
A Pinterest Party is a FABULOUS idea! I have gotten several of my friends addicted to Pinterest (my new cult, according to my guy friends), so I bet the girls would love it!
will you send me an invite please!? I would like to jump on the bandwagon :)

ReplyDeleteI am so not creative, but Pinterest helps me be! At least in my mind. I haven't completed a ton of stuff off it yet, but it's helped me get more inspired about what I could do with my house.
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/corrinabeana/
Oh, it is sooo addicting!
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing thing, when used in moderation : ) You can find me at http://pinterest.com/chelseabe/

http://pinterest.com/kristinamgulino/
ReplyDeleteI love it - but have also made a rule to myself to try to do or pint or craft one thing from Pinterest each week.
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/jeana_anderson/
I'm so addicted too! Love the idea of a Pinterst party! Can I come to yours? http://pinterest.com/dietcokegirl2/
ReplyDeleteYES! So addicted and love every wasted minute of it. I've started challenging myself to do/make/create/buy atleast 1 or 2 things a week on my boards. We've tried lots of new recipes (snickers salad=yum!!) and my house looks prettier. win win!
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/cmentillo/

I'm already following you...love your pins! And yes, everything you said about Pinterest is so very true.
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/nursenicki/
I gave in last week, too, when a client told me she pinned my item to a board. I can't resist being part of that now!
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/calicodaisy/
I have made several things that I have pinned on Pinterest (recipes, crafts, etc.) so that's how I justify it. It is a huge time-suck, but time wasted spending something you enjoy is not wasted time is it?
ReplyDeleteI actually had this discussion on facebook the other day. I need a serious pinterest intervention!
ReplyDeletePinterest party sounds great!
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/kell_morales/
I am right there with you. Totally hooked. Obsessed. I get so excited when I find a new blog that I haven't seen before and they have a 'follow me on pinterest' button. I have tried several recipes, most have been good, a couple not so much. But I just love the ideas! This is the first time I have ever organized anything in my life!
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY agree. Less pinning, more doing. I just wrote a post on the same topic last week. I did come up with a little plan to help me out. I made a list of items I needed to purchase to start some of my projects. For me, it's a start.
ReplyDeleteI've been following your boards for a while! I'm addicted too :)
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/bunchofscrap/
I cannot believe you held out his long, you crafty soul. I am still holding out because I am. And I forgot Lydia's swim lesson yesterday even though I had arranged for Shiloh to pick up Elijah at school so I could take Lydia to her lesson. How in the world could I fit Pinterest into this overloaded and unorganized brain? How? Just email me a good recipe now and again and we're good.
ReplyDeleteOh yea, and here are the other reasons I am not on Pinterest:
ReplyDeletehttp://hagenhoopla.blogspot.com/2011/08/why-im-not-on-pinterest.html
holding. out. stop trying to be a pinterest temptress. however if there's a party, i'm in, of course.
ReplyDeleteI'm already following you;)
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/chellerod/
and i agree...it's pinteresting how fast you become a pinaholic.

ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/marykrause/
Oooh yeah,
ReplyDeletePinterest has reeled me in. I think a party is a great idea. The thing is, I get inspired and I create, but then I just never pin it. But I'm at almost 1000 "likes".
pinterest.com/pickleandjam
Oh how I love Pinterest!! And the mobile app makes it even better :)
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/karamat/
officially inviting myself to your pinning party...I will bring chocolate chip cookies and wool felt supplies to make "PIN" cushions!!!!

Oh my I so agree! I just joined pinterest a week or so ago and I am soooo addicted to it wonderful organisation capabilities. I am having a home day with the kid lets today so I am planning on making one thing from my Kitchen Goodness board and one from my sewing inspiration board. Housework can wait while I attend to pinterest LOL.
ReplyDeleteI am following you on there now, and already repined some of your great pins!

PS- What is the link to your boards? I'd love to follow you, too!
As soon as I saw your first sentence, I knew it had to be pinterest. Love/Hate is exactly what it is all about... and I pinned the "Less Pinning, more Doing" thing. Yep. I LOVE the idea of a pinterest party! More of my friends need to get with the program and start pinning too. http://pinterest.com/ruth_abel/
ReplyDeletei am a follower thanks to you! :) totally addicted, but in a good way. after reading your post, i decided to go through my pins and create a new pinboard. "Pins i can check off the list" Now i repin any pin that i have completed, made, done, bought, etc. This way I can keep tabs on the stuff that i am accomplishing. Kinda makes me feel good!
ReplyDeleteI follow you, "Lisa Sharp" and here is my completed pins pinboard: http://pinterest.com/lsharp79/pins-i-can-check-off-the-list/
i have made some really awesome recipes from there, total keepers!!!
Maybe someone has already mentioned this? I have started a "Pinterest Challenge" board (http://pinterest.com/emedoodle/pinterest-challenge-things-i-ve-actually-done-insp/) where I re-pin anything that I've actually tried (in a perfect world I'd also comment on it as to how well it turned out - for the next guy). I like the act of checking things off the list so to say. It's pretty cool to see what I have to show for myself too. Recipes tried and cleaning tips used... and sometimes fabric bought! :)
ReplyDeleteHere we go. I am late this week, b/c of traveling and no internet, but here is my linko for Pinterst. Love it!

I share your love/hate of Pinterest. It really is an incredibly inspirational place though, right? Find me at pinterest.com/ohwrite. Do you read Modern Marigold? She's starting a Pin-Did link party...just the inspiration I need to get some things done! (http://www.themodernmarigold.com/2011/09/pinterest-challenge.html) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you joined Pinterest - it's terribly addicting, but I now no longer feel the need to save endless magazine clippings, so I think it's a good thing. I'm at http://pinterest.com/cateomalley/
